Tripura, 3 August 2025: Alongside countries like the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, and the United States, India also observes National Friendship Day on the first Sunday of August. On the other hand, the United Nations commemorates International Friendship Day on 30th July every year. Accordingly, today — August 3rd India is celebrating Friendship Day with warmth and enthusiasm.
Reflecting on the essence of friendship, William Shakespeare once said,
“A friend is one that knows you as you are, understands where you have been, accepts what you have become, and still, gently allows you to grow.”
Greek philosopher Aristotle defined friendship as:
“A single soul dwelling in two bodies.”
Friendship is a bond that empowers individuals to overcome life’s ups and downs together. From sharing joys and failures to offering emotional support, planning trips, or standing beside each other during life’s milestones the spirit of friendship shines through every act.
In Tripura, too, Friendship Day is being celebrated in various creative and heartfelt ways. While some mark the occasion by tying friendship bands, others express their love and solidarity by writing each other’s names on their hands or holding placards highlighting the meaning of friendship.
