Tripura, 29 July 2025: Under the guidance of the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the Tripura state government is set to launch two beneficiary-oriented schemes—‘Rah-Beer’ (Good Samaritan) and ‘Hit-and-Run’.
As part of the Rah-Beer (Good Samaritan) scheme, individuals who assist seriously injured road accident victims during the golden hour (within the first hour of the accident) by helping them reach a hospital will be rewarded. They will receive a one-time incentive of ₹25,000 and a certificate issued through the state government.
Meanwhile, under the Hit-and-Run scheme, financial compensation will be provided to victims of road accidents caused by unidentified vehicles. As per the revised scheme notified by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the compensation amount has been increased to ₹2 lakh in case of death and up to ₹50,000 in case of serious injury.
In addition, to reduce the fatality rate by ensuring timely and emergency medical care to accident victims, the Transport Department has provided a total of 16 Advanced Basic Life Support Ambulances—8 to the Police Department and 8 to the Fire & Emergency Services Department.
