Teliamura, July 29, 2025: Another dark chapter has been added to civilized society as a horrific incident of abduction and rape of a minor girl has been reported in the Teliamura police station area. The incident occurred on Monday evening in the Tuimadhu area under Chakmaghat, sending shockwaves through the community.
According to Teleyamura Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Joyanta Kumar Dey, the victim, a 17-year-old girl, was on her way to a local shop when two youths forcibly dragged her into a car and took her to a nearby litchi orchard, where they allegedly raped her.
The accused have been identified as Hiron Mia, a resident of Melapathar village, and Antar Mia, from Tuimadhu village. The crime came to light when Suroj Debbarma and several others, who were searching for their missing cattle in the orchard, heard the girl’s screams. They rushed to the scene and found the victim in a distressed state, emerging from the jungle.
Upon spotting the locals, the two accused fled the scene. Suroj and others rescued the girl and immediately took her and her family to Teliamura Police Station to file a complaint.
Police have registered a rape case (TLM P.S Case No. 66/2025) and launched a manhunt to apprehend the suspects. OC Joyanta Kumar Dey stated that the accused have gone into hiding but assured that intensified raids are being conducted to arrest them.
Further investigations are underway.
