Agartala, 28 July 2025: In a remarkable initiative aimed at fostering awareness and national integration in the border regions of Tripura, the 71 TRIPURA GIRLS (I) COY NCC, under the aegis of Silchar Group, conducted a Vibrant Village Programme at Purva Simna and Paschim Simna today.
Led by Lt Col G.R. Sharma, the programme witnessed enthusiastic participation of 274 cadets and 14 staff members. The event commenced with cordial interactions with local leaders including the Pradhans of the Gram Panchayats and Company Commander of 104 BSF, Inspector Suryabhan, whose team played a pivotal role in ensuring the success of the event through extensive support and cooperation.

The day-long outreach saw an overwhelming participation of over 300 villagers and 250 school children. Lt Col G.R. Sharma, in his motivational address, extended heartfelt thanks to the villagers for their active involvement and reiterated the importance of collective efforts in nation building.
A massive tree plantation drive formed a major highlight of the programme, during which more than 300 saplings were planted in a joint effort by NCC cadets, students, and the local populace — symbolizing unity for a greener tomorrow.

A powerful anti-drug awareness campaign with the theme “Let’s Act Today, Tomorrow May Be Too Late” struck a strong chord with the audience, emphasizing the urgent need to combat drug abuse among youth.
The event also honored the Ex-servicemen of both villages in a heartfelt felicitation ceremony, acknowledging their unwavering service to the nation.
To further connect the cadets with the realities of border life, a “Border Darshan” was organized, offering them a rare and insightful glimpse into life along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
The entire programme was met with resounding appreciation and left a lasting impact on all present. The villagers, school children, and cadets were served with light refreshments, concluding the day on a note of warmth, camaraderie, and patriotic pride.
This initiative reflects NCC’s enduring commitment to national unity, youth empowerment, and inclusive rural development — truly embodying the spirit of a Vibrant India.
