New Delhi , 25 July, 2025: The Intelligence Bureau (IB), under the Ministry of Home Affairs, has released a notification for the direct recruitment of 4,987 Security Assistant/Executive (SA/Exe) posts across various Subsidiary Intelligence Bureaux in India. The online application process is set to begin on July 26, 2025, and will conclude on August 17, 2025.
This recruitment drive presents a significant opportunity for Indian nationals who have completed their matriculation (10th class pass) to join the country’s premier intelligence agency. The posts are classified as General Central Service, (Group ‘C’) Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial.
Vacancy Details and Eligibility
A total of 4,987 vacancies have been announced, with a detailed breakdown of reservations for UR, OBC (NCL), SC, ST, and EWS categories across 37 Subsidiary Intelligence Bureaux (SIBs). The highest number of vacancies are in Delhi (1124), followed by Chennai (285) and Mumbai (266).
Key Eligibility Criteria:
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 10th standard or an equivalent examination from a recognized board.
- Domicile: Applicants must possess a domicile certificate of the state against which they are applying.
- Local Language: Knowledge of any one of the specified local languages/dialects for the respective SIB is mandatory. Candidates should be able to read, write, and speak the language.
- Age Limit: The age limit for applicants is between 18 and 27 years as of August 17, 2025. Relaxations in the upper age limit are applicable for candidates belonging to SC/ST (5 years) and OBC (3 years) categories, as well as for other special categories as per government norms.
Selection Process and Examination Scheme
The selection process will be conducted in three tiers:
- Tier-I: An online objective type multiple-choice question (MCQ) exam of 100 marks. The one-hour test will cover General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, Numerical/Analytical/Logical Ability and Reasoning, English Language, and General Studies. There will be a negative marking of ¼ mark for each incorrect answer.
- Tier-II: A descriptive written exam of 50 marks, which will include the translation of a 500-word passage from the local language/dialect to English and vice versa. This tier is qualifying in nature, with a qualifying mark of 20.
- Tier-III: An Interview/Personality test carrying 50 marks.
The final merit list will be prepared based on the combined performance in Tier-I and Tier-III examinations.
Pay Scale and Application Fee
Selected candidates will be placed in Level-3 of the pay matrix, with a pay scale of ₹21,700 – ₹69,100, in addition to admissible Central Government allowances. This also includes a Special Security Allowance at 20% of the basic pay.
The examination fee is structured in two components: an Examination Fee of ₹100 and Recruitment Processing Charges of ₹550. Male candidates of UR, EWS, and OBC categories are required to pay both, totaling ₹650. All SC/ST candidates, female candidates, and eligible Ex-Servicemen are exempted from the examination fee but must pay the recruitment processing charges of ₹550.

The application window will be open from July 26, 2025, to August 17, 2025 (23:59 hours). The last date for payment of fees through SBI challan is August 19, 2025.
