Agartala, July 24, 2025: The Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC) has officially announced the recruitment of 08 Deputy Director (Group-A, Gazetted) posts under the Directorate of Prosecution, Home Department, Government of Tripura. The positions, advertised under Notification No. 22/2025, offer an attractive pay scale of ₹64,800/- (Level-15) as per the Tripura State Pay Matrix 2018.
This recruitment drive is aimed at strengthening the prosecutorial system in the state by appointing seasoned legal professionals with substantial experience in criminal law.
Category-wise Vacancy Distribution:
Unreserved (UR) – 04 posts Scheduled Caste (SC) – 01 post Scheduled Tribe (ST) – 03 posts Out of the total vacancies, 33% are reserved for women, with 02 posts under UR and 01 under ST categories.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must:
Be Indian citizens. Hold a Law degree from a recognized university. Have a minimum of 15 years’ experience as a practicing Advocate, preferably in criminal law within the State of Tripura. Possess knowledge of Bengali or Kokborok (desirable). Hold a Permanent Resident Certificate of Tripura (PRTC) in accordance with GA (P&T) Department Notification dated July 7, 2023.
Age Limit (as on August 22, 2025):
Minimum: 38 years Maximum: 50 years Relaxation: Up to 5 years for SC/ST/PH candidates and Government servants. However, multiple relaxations cannot be combined beyond the initial 5-year benefit.
Selection Process:
The recruitment will be conducted in two stages:
1. Written Examination (170 Marks)
General English – 30 marks General Knowledge – 40 marks Legal Knowledge – 100 marks Duration: 3 hours Mode: OMR-based MCQ pattern
2. Interview/Viva Voce (30 Marks)
The interview will evaluate candidates’ intellectual aptitude, awareness of current affairs, judgment, leadership qualities, and social traits. Candidates will be shortlisted for the interview in a ratio based on the number of vacancies:
1 vacancy – top 5 candidates 2 vacancies – top 8 candidates 3 or more vacancies – 3 times the number of posts
Final selection will be based on the combined score of the written test and the interview. In case of a tie, preference will be given to the older candidate; if both marks and age are equal, the candidate with a higher percentage in their qualifying law degree will be ranked higher.
