Agartala, July 20: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Saturday said that Agartala is on the path to becoming a modern and advanced city through ongoing developmental works. Addressing reporters during an extensive field visit to various areas under Agartala Municipal Corporation’s Ward No. 32 and 34—including Gangail Road, Melarmath, Office Lane, Joynagar, Dashamighat, and others—the Chief Minister outlined the government’s vision for urban infrastructure development.
He announced that multiple flyovers, a G-16 category pendulum building complex, Eastern and Western Bypass roads, and even a five-star hotel are part of the upcoming infrastructure projects for Agartala. Across the state, a total of ₹7,000 crore will be spent on various developmental initiatives.

“Our government is focused on earning people’s trust through visible work on the ground. The priority is to build quality infrastructure in every area, addressing long-pending problems caused by years of unplanned development,” Dr. Saha stated.
He emphasized that Tripura’s present government is working not just in Agartala but across national highways and ADC (Autonomous District Council) areas as well. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with IIT for the improvement of national highway infrastructure. “Planning-backed development has led to positive recognition even from visitors from outside the state,” the Chief Minister added.
Dr. Saha also credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “skilled architect of nation-building” and said that Tripura is walking the path shown by the PM to build a “new Tripura.”
During the visit, the Chief Minister walked through local neighborhoods, listened to people’s grievances, and instructed officials from relevant departments to take immediate steps for redressal. He specifically reviewed issues related to drainage, water supply, and roads. He directed officials to elevate roads where waterlogging occurs and ensure proper drainage systems are put in place.
He also instructed that all ongoing developmental projects must be completed within the stipulated timeframes.
Accompanying the Chief Minister were Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Deepak Majumder, Agartala Smart City Ltd. CEO Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav, Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, AMC Commissioner Dilip Kumar Chakma, and several officials from concerned departments.
