Tripura, July 16, 2025: A two-day food festival began today at the Sachir Debbarma Auditorium Complex in Belonia, organized by the South Tripura District Administration in collaboration with the Department of Skill Development. The festival aims to encourage youth towards self-reliance through culinary entrepreneurship and skill development.
Tripura Cooperation Minister Sukla charan Noatia, inaugurating the event, said that India now holds the 4th position globally in terms of economic strength, thanks to the collective efforts led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized that the government is actively supporting self-help groups and providing them with skill training to strengthen the rural economy.

Minister Noatia further added that the state government is focused on skill development for youth, especially young women, to help them become self-dependent. He expressed hope that such food festivals would inspire local youth and should be organized at the block and village levels as well.
Also present at the event, Belonia MLA Swapna Majumder, and Zilla Parishad Chairperson Dipti Dutta praised the initiative and thanked the district administration for organizing it. They urged the public to take full advantage of the opportunities offered by the festival.
Other dignitaries who addressed the event included Superintendent of Police Maurya Krishnan, officials from the Skill Development Department, MDC Mailafru Mog, and Additional District Magistrate Hemanta Debbarma. The event was presided over by Belonia Municipal Council Chairperson Nikhil Chandra Majumder, and the welcome address was delivered by District Magistrate Sajjad P..
The food festival features nine food stalls serving a variety of cuisines including North Indian, South Indian, Chinese, and traditional Tripuri dishes, alongside multiple departmental stalls showcasing skill-based training and development. The event also includes cultural performances and live music.
Under the Chief Minister’s Development Project, 60 local men and women received specialized training in food preparation, and they are now showcasing and selling their dishes at the festival at affordable prices. The fair will be open to the public every evening from 3 PM till night.
