Killa, July 13, 2025: Aiming to boost sports infrastructure in ADC areas, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), Purna Chandra Jamatia, today announced that Killa will soon emerge as a major sports hub. He made the statement while attending a jersey distribution programme held at Chongkhreng Hall, Killa.

The event, organised by the Youth Tipra Federation (YTF), witnessed the distribution of new jerseys and football kits to 28 local teams, including Holy Association Club, Yung Star Club, and Mwitulwng Club.

Addressing the gathering, CEM Jamatia said, “Killa will soon have its own sports school, which is expected to be completed within two years. This school will nurture 100 young talents – 50 male and 50 female – providing them with professional training in various sports like football, cricket, kabaddi, and more.”
He also emphasized the significance of this initiative, stating, “Even Udaipur city doesn’t have such a facility. But now Killa will lead in sporting opportunities, thanks to the vision of our Bubagra Pradyot Manikya Debbarma.”
Reflecting on past struggles, the CEM recalled,
“Earlier, if anyone wanted to pursue sports education, they had to travel to Agartala’s Badharghat. But now, with the establishment of a sports school in Killa, that will no longer be necessary.”
He further informed that out of three proposed sports schools in ADC areas, construction has already started for two. The upcoming sports school in Killa will be located between Khumpuilwng and Jampuijala areas, specifically at Thelakung. The Tulsiram ground in Killa will also be modernized to enable day and night practice sessions.
CEM Jamatia concluded by saying, “This initiative is not limited to Killa alone. Various locations across ADC areas in Tripura will receive similar opportunities in the coming years.”
