Youth Leader’s 2,500 km March to Delhi Demands Greater Tipraland, Illegal Immigrant Expulsion
Tripura, 12 July, 2025: In a bold political move, Tripura youth leader and Zonal Chairman of TIPRA Motha, David Murasing, has embarked on a foot march to Delhi demanding the implementation of the proposed “Greater Tipraland” and urgent action against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in Tripura and across India.

Murasing began his journey on July 5 from Agartala, the state capital of Tripura. On Saturday, he reached the Assam border through Churaibari, where he received a warm and enthusiastic send-off by hundreds of TIPRA Motha supporters. A short felicitation ceremony was held in Churaibari in his honour.

Notable leaders including TIPRA Motha MoS Minister Brishaketu Debbarma and MLA Nandita Debbarma, Executive Member Runel Debbarma, TTAADC Chairman Jagadish Debbarma, MDCs Dhirendra Debbarma (Damcherra-Kachucherra), MDC Sadagar Koloi (Ampinagar), and Executive Member Kamal Koloi were present to extend their support.
David Murasing told reporters that the central government has failed to implement the key demands of TIPRA Motha made nearly 18 months ago, including the formation of Greater Tipraland or provision of adequate constitutional safeguards for the Indigenous people of Tripura. He also criticized the Centre for not enforcing the memorandum aimed at identifying and deporting illegal Bangladeshi immigrants from Tripura.
He said that through this march of over 2,500 km, he intends to take the voice of the Tiprasa people directly to Delhi and the central government. The massive support at his send-off reflected the growing frustration and determination among the Indigenous community to safeguard their rights and identity.
