Khumulwng, July 10, 2025: In a commendable move to support the academic aspirations of economically backward students from Scheduled Tribes (ST), the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) has announced a financial assistance scheme for the academic year 2025–26. The scheme aims to sponsor meritorious ST students for two professional courses at ICFAI University, Kamalghat, West Tripura.
According to the official notification issued by the Addl. Chief Executive Officer, the TTAADC will cover the full semester fees for selected candidates pursuing either a two-year B.Ed in Special Education (Intellectual Disability) or a three-year General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) program. The scholarship will be available for 20 seats in B.Ed (Spl. Ed) and 10 seats in GNM.


Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must be permanent residents of TTAADC areas. Must belong to ST category and come from BPL/AAY/APL families with an annual income not exceeding ₹2.5 lakh. Candidates must be aged 37 or below as of the notification date. Necessary documents including mark sheet, birth certificate, ST certificate, PRTC, and income certificate must be submitted.
Interested candidates must submit a handwritten application on plain paper addressed to the Principal Officer, Education, TTAADC, Khumulwng, by July 20, 2025.
Selection will be merit-based, and incomplete applications will be summarily rejected. However, the Council clarified that it will not bear responsibility for employment post-course completion.
This initiative has been undertaken by TTAADC under the leadership of Chief Executive Member Purna Chandra Jamatia, and is being implemented under the visionary guidance of TIPRA founder and royal scion Pradyot Manikya Debbarma. It reflects their joint commitment to empowering Indigenous youth through inclusive higher education and professional development opportunities.
