Agartala, July 2: The traditional Snanayatra (ceremonial bathing procession) of the revered Chaturdasha Devata was held today at the holy bank of the Haora River in Khayerpur, marking the sacred beginning of Tripura’s iconic Kharchi Festival.

As per centuries-old rituals, symbolic idols representing the 14 deities were ceremonially bathed at the designated ghat, officially initiating the festival celebrations.
The Snanayatra event was conducted with full religious fervor and attended by the chief priest Raj Chantai, along with other temple priests. The Chairman of the Kharchi Festival Committee and MLA Ratan Chakraborty was also present, accompanied by other distinguished guests.
The Kharchi Festival, one of Tripura’s most significant and culturally rich celebrations, will formally commence tomorrow in the temple premises of the Chaturdasha Devata in Old Agartala.
