Tripura, 31 May 2025: The North Tripura Police has achieved a major breakthrough by arresting the notorious dacoit Nazim Uddin, who had long been a source of fear across the district. Known for creating an atmosphere of terror, Nazim and his gang were allegedly involved in a series of thefts and dacoities targeting houses, shops, and even religious places, leaving the people of Tripura deeply distressed.
According to police sources, there had been a sharp rise in thefts and dacoity cases in the Kadamtala and Churaibari police station areas over the past few months. While several gang members had already been arrested, the kingpin Nazim Uddin repeatedly managed to evade the police. For years, his evasion had become a subject of concern and even speculation.
However, acting on a tip-off, a joint operation was conducted by the Churaibari Police and the intelligence unit around 8 PM on Friday. The team raided a house near Nadiyapur ST Para and successfully arrested Nazim. Despite sensing the police presence and attempting to flee, Nazim ultimately fell into the trap.
District Superintendent of Police Avinash Rai and Additional SP Jeremia Darlong rushed to Churaibari Police Station following the arrest. Speaking to the media, Additional SP Jeremia Darlong stated that Nazim currently has at least ten ongoing cases of theft and dacoity registered in various police stations across the district.
It is noteworthy that Nazim had previously been arrested and served jail time. However, after being released on bail, he returned to his criminal activities, continuing to operate while in hiding. He is now in police custody at Churaibari Police Station and is being interrogated.
The police further informed that Nazim would be produced in court on Saturday under case number 17/25, with a request for police remand. His arrest has brought a sense of relief to the residents of North Tripura. However, the public now awaits to see what strict legal actions will be taken against him and whether he will face justice or return to his criminal ways again.
