Tripura, 29 May 2025: Tripura is moving forward with a new wave of development, leaving behind outdated practices and adopting reforms across vital sectors like agriculture, education, and healthcare, said Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha. He made the remarks while inaugurating the ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ (Developed Agriculture Commitment Campaign) at the Sachin Debbarman Memorial Auditorium in Bishramganj today.
Aligning with the nationwide launch of the campaign, the Chief Minister flagged off three Krishi Rath (agriculture chariots) as part of the state’s rollout. A total of 24 such Krishi Rath will travel across the districts and subdivisions of Tripura from May 29 to June 12 to promote awareness and reforms in agriculture.
CM Saha stated that the campaign aims to utilize modern technology to boost agricultural productivity and farmers’ income. The initiative is focused on practically applying the results of agricultural research directly to farmlands. He emphasized that the central government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, is committed to strengthening the socio-economic conditions of the farmers the nation’s “annadatas” (food providers).
He added that the use of artificial intelligence (AI) will soon help farmers analyze soil fertility and receive timely assistance. By using predictive applications for rainfall forecasting, farmers can better plan their crop cycles and become self-reliant. The Krishi Rath will inform farmers about various central and state government schemes and raise awareness about the use of technology in agriculture. Agricultural scientists and officials will also directly interact with farmers during the campaign.
Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath highlighted that the core objective of the campaign is the ‘Lab to Land’ approach translating lab research into practical field application. From June 29 onward, 864 meetings will be organized (72 per day) to facilitate direct interactions between farmers and agricultural scientists.
He mentioned that detailed information on various government schemes will be shared, and efforts will be made to empower and educate farmers further. During the event, the Chief Minister honored two farmers and distributed agricultural tools to several others.
Key dignitaries present at the event included Agriculture Secretary Apurba Roy, Sepahijala District Magistrate & Collector Dr. Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal, Agriculture Director Dr. P. B. Jamatia, Senior Scientist of Sepahijala Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dr. Shatabhisha Sarkar, and Chairperson of Sepahijala Zilla Parishad Supriya Das Dutta, who presided over the function.
