Dharmanagar, May 22, 2025: A woman travelling on the Sabroom-Sealdah bound Kanchanjungha Express gave birth to a baby boy on the train. Upon receiving the information, the Dharmanagar Government Railway Police (GRPS) acted swiftly and rescued the mother and newborn at Dharmanagar railway station.
The Dharmanagar Railway Hospital was immediately informed, and a team of doctors and nurses arrived at the station to assess the condition of both the mother and the baby. They confirmed that both are healthy and stable.
Subsequently, the Dharmanagar District Hospital was alerted, and an ambulance was dispatched to transfer the mother and child from the railway station to the district hospital, where they are currently under medical care.
In a statement, PRPS Officer-in-Charge Uttam Kumar Kalai said, “We responded quickly and ensured that the mother and baby were safely transported to the hospital. Both are doing well now.”
The mother has been identified as Katki Nagasia and the father as Katka Nagashia, residents of Ranchi, Jharkhand.
