Tripura, 22 May 2025: Recently, Dr. Abhilaksh Likhi, Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries, Government of India, along with Joint Secretary Sagar Mehra, visited the Bashundhara Fish Hatchery established by Madhabi Bhowmik Das in the Nalchhara block area. Senior officials from the State Department of Fisheries were also present during the visit.
During the inspection, the officials interacted with the hatchery owner and discussed various aspects of the facility. Set up under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) with an expenditure of ₹25 lakh, this is a finfish hatchery unit.
The hatchery specializes in the artificial breeding of high-quality fingerlings of various fish species including Rohu, Catla, Mrigal, Bata, Putius, Grass Carp, Silver Carp, and Bighead Carp.
