Pakyong, May 15 (IPR): As part of the ongoing celebrations commemorating 50 years of Statehood, an exposure tour for panchayat members of Pakyong District to Temi Tea Estate was flagged off from Pakyong this morning.The tour was flagged off by Sub Divisional Magistrate (Headquarter) Mr Thendup Lepcha in the presence of GM, District Industries Centre (DIC) Pakyong, Mr Jigmi Wangdi, along with Block Development Officer Pakyong, Mr Sangay Tamang.The exposure tour is jointly organised by the Commerce & Industries Department and the Transport Department, Government of Sikkim, and supported by Cherry Resort Temi Tea Garden, SIDICO, Temi Tea Estate, Sikkim Chronicle and Vision Enterprise.

The tour comprises twenty-five panchayat members from six GPUs of the district, along with officials and staff of DIC.During the tour, the members will receive firsthand exposure to the operational procedures at Temi Tea Estate. They will learn about tea cultivation practices, harvesting methods, and the various stages of processing.
The tour will also provide insights into quality control, packaging, estate management, and marketing.The itinerary also includes a visit to Pranami Mandir, Bermiok, aimed at providing insights into local heritage and community spaces.
