Tripura, 11 May 2025: A youth has been arrested by Churaibari Police in Tripura for allegedly sharing a Facebook post that insulted Indian soldiers, triggering outrage among locals. A case has also been registered in connection with the incident. The arrest took place on Sunday morning following a controversial post shared on Saturday afternoon.
Abdul Salam, a resident of Khadimpur Para (Ward No. 3) in Purba Phulbari village under Churaibari police station, allegedly shared a video showing the bodies of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) personnel lying on the ground. The video, originally posted by a Bangladeshi account named “Jibon Mane Juddho” (Life Means War), reportedly mocked the fallen soldiers with the caption: “Cool your eyes by watching the scattered dead bodies of Indian BSF personnel”, alongside symbols of Pakistan and Bangladesh flags.

Abdul Salam’s act of resharing the post from his personal Facebook account drew immediate backlash from the local community, who stormed the Churaibari police station on Saturday night and demanded action. Acting on the complaint, Officer-in-Charge Khokan Saha launched an investigation and arrested Abdul Salam from his residence the next morning.
Speaking to the media, OC Khokan Saha stated that the video shared by Abdul Salam was highly offensive and aimed at maligning the dignity of Indian security forces. “Sharing such content is not only irresponsible but also an act of sedition. He has been booked under Sections 15/25 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Sections 196, 352, and 353 of the Indian Penal Code,” said the OC.
He further informed that the accused was presented before the district court on Sunday afternoon.
