Singtam, May 7(IPR): In a proactive effort to strengthen emergency response capabilities and community resilience, a comprehensive Air Strike Preparedness Mock Drill was successfully conducted at Singtam today. At 1600 hrs, Civil Defence Control Room Gangtok received an assumed air raid warning.
A control room was set up at Singtam Police Station, and upon receiving the simulated distress call, the Incident Response Team was promptly activated. The District Magistrate, Gangtok, Senior Superintendent of Police (Sr SP) Gangtok, Additional District Magistrate (HQ) Gangtok, and Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gangtok, arrived at the Singtam Police Station premises.


Air Raid Sirens were broadcasted and sounded by Police and Civil Defense volunteers to signal the emergency. Residents were instructed to stay indoors or move to the NHPC tunnel, commercial establishments were closed, and roads were cleared of movement to simulate a real-time response to an air threat.
Elected members of Singtam Nagar Panchayat actively supported coordination efforts. Subsequently, Councillors from Singtam,IGP Home Guard and Civil Defence, SP Singtam, SDM Rabdang, ASP Traffic, SHO Singtam, the SDRF Mangley, MEO Singtam, Home Guard and Civil Defence Gangtok, Civil Defence Singtam, Distruct Disaster Management Team Gangtok, Singtam Municipal Team, and the medical team from Singtam District Hospital also assembled at the venue, near Singtam Police Station.
The SDRF team from Mangley, Home Guard and Civil Defence Gangtok, and Civil Defence Singtam along with fire tenders from the Singtam and Gangtok Fire Station, were dispatched to the site to conduct search and rescue operations and extinguish the fire. Ambulances with medical teams were sent to provide immediate care to the injured.
