Tripura, 18 April 2025: Once again, Agartala Railway Station has emerged as a corridor used by Bangladeshi nationals attempting to travel to other Indian states. In a recent police operation, two Bangladeshi women were apprehended at the station.
The detainees have been identified as Nodiya Akhtar Mim (19) from Barisal, Bangladesh, and Rupali Akhtar (38) from Manikganj, Bangladesh. According to reports, they had entered India illegally and reached Agartala Railway Station with the intention of boarding a train to another state.
Police recovered Indian currency and iPhones from their possession. The joint operation was conducted by the Agartala GRP (Government Railway Police), RPF (Railway Protection Force), BSF (Border Security Force), and intelligence personnel.
During preliminary interrogation, the two women revealed their plan to travel to Mumbai via Kolkata. A team of female officers from the Agartala GRP is conducting further rounds of questioning at the station. Authorities suspect that more individuals might be involved in this case, and further arrests are likely.
A case has been registered at the Agartala GRP police station, and the detainees are scheduled to be presented before the court today, confirmed Tapas Das, Officer-in-Charge of the GRP station.
