Illegal Immigration Foiled: One Bangladeshi National, Three Indian Touts Nabbed at Agartala Railway Station
Agartala, April 17, 2025: In a significant operation conducted yesterday (April 16), the Agartala GRP, in coordination with the RPF, BSF, and Intelligence Branch, apprehended four individuals from Agartala Railway Station. Among the detainees is one Bangladeshi national who had allegedly entered India illegally, aided by three Indian touts. The group had reportedly arrived at the station with the intention of boarding a train to Kolkata.
Based on initial interrogation, the Bangladeshi national admitted to crossing the border unlawfully with the help of the Indian handlers.
The accused have been identified as: 1. Mehedi Hasan (33) – Resident of Faridpur, Bangladesh. 2. Iqbal Hossain (21) – Resident of Phitra Madhyapara, under Arkepur PS, Gomati District (Indian tout). 3. Riyaz Hossain (19) – Resident of Phitra Madhyapara, under Arkepur PS, Gomati District (Indian tout). 4. Sumendra Pal (22) – Resident of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh (Indian tout).
Following intensive interrogation at the Agartala GRP Police Station, all four were produced before the Hon’ble Court today. Police sources indicate that the investigation is still underway, and more arrests could follow as deeper links within the trafficking network are being traced.
A case has been officially registered at the Agartala GRP Station. Authorities are optimistic that further questioning may reveal broader connections in this cross-border trafficking route.
