Tripura, 18 April 2025: To ensure the overall development of the state, modernization of road connectivity, and public convenience, the expansion work of the National Highway must be completed within the stipulated time. The expansion of the Assam-Agartala National Highway (NH-8) is highly significant for the state. Any existing obstacles to the implementation of this project must be identified on a priority basis and addressed within the fixed timeline.

Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury emphasized the need for faster completion of the stretch from Champaknagar to Khayerpur during a special meeting held at the conference hall of the Jirania Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office. In the meeting, the Transport Minister instructed the road construction agency to work in coordination with the state administration and accelerate the pace of the project.
He also sought the cooperation of all concerned stakeholders. The meeting, chaired by the Transport Minister, was attended by Jirania Panchayat Samiti Chairman Pritam Debnath, West Tripura Additional District Magistrate Sajal Biswas, Jirania Sub-Divisional Magistrate Shantiranjan Chakma, Additional SDM Animesh Dhar, DC Janmejoy Chakma, Partha Saha, social worker Ranjit Roy Choudhury, and others.
Officials from various departments, representatives of the highway construction agency, and local businesspersons were also present.
