Tripura, 17 April 2025: In a state often overlooked in mainstream pageantry, 19-year-old Arya Debbarma is making history not just with a crown, but with a purpose. Hailing from Agartala, Tripura, Arya is the first-ever Miss Grand Tripura, now stepping onto the national stage as a contestant in Miss Grand India 2025. But this journey is not just about glitz and glamour for Arya, it’s about representation, advocacy, and the power of voice.
Currently an undergraduate student in Electronics and Communication Engineering at the prestigious Northeastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) in Arunachal Pradesh, Arya’s life is a blend of equations and elegance. With her poised presence and sharp intellect, she’s breaking stereotypes proving that one can be both a tech scholar and a national beauty queen.

“I started my pageant journey when I was just 16,” Arya recalls. “Every audition, every title, has been a step towards something much bigger than me it’s for my people, my state, and the stories that deserve to be heard.”
On April 14th, 2025, Arya was officially crowned Miss Grand India (Tripura) after the final audition in New Delhi. This moment marked not just personal triumph, but a cultural breakthrough for Tripura. As a former state finalist for Miss Universe India 2024, she’s been on a steady climb preparing relentlessly for the national stage of Miss Grand India for the past eight months.

But behind the tiaras and titles is a young woman driven by compassion. Arya is an advocate for mental health awareness, animal rights, and broader human rights issues. She doesn’t just wear her values she lives them. A trained classical dancer and portrait sketch artist, Arya channels her creative passions into activism, using her art to amplify voices that often go unheard.

“I believe in winning hearts more than winning crowns,” she says with sincerity. “If I can connect with even one individual through my journey, then I’ve succeeded. My goal is to uplift, to represent Tripura, and to take the essence of my people with me, wherever I go.”
Arya’s aspirations don’t stop at the national level. Her eyes are set on the international stage, hoping to bring the Miss Grand International crown home to India someday. And along the way, she intends to use her platform to push for peace, equity, and justice in a world fractured by conflict and crisis.
As she prepares to represent Tripura at Miss Grand India, Arya is not just preparing for a competition she’s preparing to carry a message. A message of hope, resilience, and pride. And in doing so, she’s redefining what it means to be a queen in the 21st century.
With her feet firmly rooted in her culture and her vision reaching far beyond the runway, Arya Debbarma is more than a beauty queen she’s a voice for a generation.
