Three Seriously Injured in Collision Between Bike and Scooter — Woman Referred to GBP Hospital
Tripura, 09 April 2025: In a shocking road mishap this afternoon, a woman and two men sustained serious injuries after a high-speed collision between a bike and a scooter in the Lembutuli area under Madhupur. The accident left the vehicles mangled and the victims scattered on the road in critical condition. Eyewitnesses said the accident occurred when Ajay Debnath, a contractor, was riding a scooter (TR07H8993) towards Madhupur from the Rashtarmatha area. Simultaneously, a youth named Ishan Das was heading towards Nehal Chandranagar on a motorbike (TR07E7317) with his sister-in-law, Purnima Das, riding pillion.
As the bike approached Lembutuli, Ishan Das allegedly tried to make a sudden turn from the main road without using any signal, resulting in a head-on collision with the oncoming scooter. The impact was so forceful that all three individuals were thrown off their vehicles, and both the bike and the scooter were left badly damaged. Local passersby rushed to the spot and found Purnima Das unconscious, while Ajay Debnath lay bleeding on the roadside.
Without delay, ONGC personnel present nearby transported the injured to Madhupur Hospital. However, due to the severity of her injuries, Purnima Das was referred to GBP Hospital in Agartala for further treatment. Ajay Debnath remains under medical observation.
Locals allege that reckless driving and lack of traffic discipline are leading causes of repeated accidents along the newly constructed Kamalasagar main road. “Many drivers lose control or make sudden turns without signaling.
If there were regular patrolling or vehicle checking by the Madhupur police, such accidents could be avoided,” one local resident told this reporter. Despite the gravity of the situation, locals claimed that the Madhupur Police were initially reluctant to respond. The mangled bike and scooter remained in the middle of the road for a long time after the incident.
