Tripura 29 March, 2025: The state government is giving priority to the development of the tourism sector in Tripura. Water tourism is expected to play a significant role in placing Tripura on the country’s tourism map. With this goal in mind, various initiatives have been taken to introduce water sports, speed boats, and shikaras in different water bodies across the state.
On March 28, during an event organized by the Tourism Department at the Ujjayanta Palace premises, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury inaugurated two 20-seater speed boats and six shikaras.

The speed boats will be deployed at the Chabimura tourist center, while the shikaras will provide services to tourists at the Laxminarayan Bari Dighi, Rudrasagar Lake, and Narikelkunj. In his address, the minister announced plans to purchase 50 more boats to enhance water tourism in the near future.
The Director of the Tourism Department, Prashanta Badal Negi, delivered the welcome speech at the event, which was attended by several officials from the department.
