Agartala 28 March, 2025: In an effort to preserve groundwater, several reservoirs have been created across the state by constructing check dams to conserve rainwater.
Utilising these conserved reservoirs, the state’s Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation has implemented innovative projects to provide safe drinking water and usable water to the public.

Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha shared this information in a written reply to a question raised by MLA Ram Pada Jamatia in the state assembly on 27 March.
The Chief Minister stated that, so far, a total of seven innovative projects have been implemented around these rainwater-harvesting reservoirs. Additionally, three more projects are awaiting launch, and work is underway on two other projects.
