Agartala, March 16: In a routine inspection at Agartala Railway Station, authorities recovered 15.5 kg of dry ganja, which was found abandoned in a pink trolley bag containing 16 packets.
The Agartala Government Railway Police (GRP) seized the contraband after completing all legal formalities. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to identify the individuals involved in smuggling the narcotics.
According to OC Tapas Das of Agartala GRP Police Station, the market value of the seized ganja at its intended destination is estimated at ₹2.32 lakh.

Bangladeshi National Detained at Agartala Railway Station
In a separate incident, security forces detained a Bangladeshi national at Agartala Railway Station during a joint operation conducted by Agartala GRP, Border Security Force (BSF), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and intelligence agencies.
The detained individual has been identified as Mohammad Liton (47), a resident of Comilla, Bangladesh. During preliminary questioning, he admitted that he was en route to Mumbai. However, officials are conducting further interrogation to ascertain the purpose of his visit and any possible links to illegal activities.
Following his detention, a case has been registered at Agartala GRP police station, and he is scheduled to be produced before the Hon’ble Court today.
The information was confirmed by OC Tapas Das of Agartala GRP Police Station, who stated that security has been heightened at the railway station as authorities continue their crackdown on illegal activities in the region.
