Agartala, 15th March 2025: The College of Fisheries, Central Agricultural University, Lembucherra, successfully concluded the International Women’s Week Celebrations (8th – 15th March 2025) with a Valedictory Programme held at the ATIC Hall. The event was graced by faculty members, students, and staff, highlighting the significant contributions of women in various spheres, especially in fisheries and aquaculture.
The programme commenced at 3:30 PM with a Welcome Address and an insightful speech on “Role of Women in Society” by Dr. Pampa Bhattacharjee, Chairperson, Women Development Cell. This was followed by an address by Prof. Sagar C. Mandal on “Gender Sensitization: Bridging the Gap.”Dr. Sampa Baidya delivered a speech on “The History of Women’s Day: Struggles and Achievements,”emphasizing the global and historical significance of the day. Prof. A.B. Patel, Dean of the College of Fisheries, addressed the gathering with a talk on “Women’s Contribution to Fisheries and Aquaculture,” acknowledging the remarkable role women play in the fisheries sector and their increasing participation in research and development. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Ms. Sanhita Das, Member of the Women Development Cell, who expressed gratitude to all participants for their valuable contributions in making the event a success.

The celebration of International Women’s Week at the College of Fisheries reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to promoting gender equality and recognizing the achievements of women in fisheries, aquaculture, and beyond.
