Tripura 11 March, 2025: Pameli Reang has fully recovered and returned to normal health after undergoing a successful heart surgery completely free of cost under the National Child Health Program (RBSK). Pameli, the daughter of Paishroho Reang from Shilo Rai Para in the Gomati district’s Karbook sub-district, had been suffering from frequent breathing difficulties.
During a screening program on September 26, 2024, at the Shilachhari Primary Health Center, RBSK doctors Dr. Gayashore Bakta Jamatia and Dr. Lucky Sandipa Reang conducted a physical examination and suspected a heart issue.
The doctors advised the child’s guardians to seek advanced treatment and referred her to the Gomati District Hospital. On December 5, 2024, an echocardiogram at the hospital confirmed a heart condition. Subsequently, RBSK doctors recommended that Pameli undergo heart surgery at an out-of-state hospital, assuring the family that the surgery would be completely free of charge.
With this assurance, Pameli’s parents agreed to take her to Apollo Children’s Hospital in Chennai. On January 30, 2025, they arrived in Chennai, where she was admitted for heart surgery, which was successfully completed the same day under the care of specialized doctors at the hospital. Pameli’s condition remained stable after the surgery, and she was discharged the next day. She returned to her home state on February 3, 2025, fully recovered.
Due to the financial difficulties of her father, Paishro ha Reang, it would not have been possible for the family to afford such a costly surgery. They are immensely grateful for the support received through the National Child Health Program.
Pameli’s family expressed their gratitude to the state authorities of the National Child Health Program, the Shilachhari Health Center’s RBSK medical team, and other healthcare workers. The family is delighted with Pameli’s full recovery. This information was shared in a press release by the Department of Family Welfare and Disease Prevention.
