Tripura 4 March, 2025: Yesterday, a delegation led by Arun Kumar Choudhury, General Manager (Construction) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), met with Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha at the Secretariat. The discussion focused on improving railway services and infrastructure in Tripura. Key topics included the progress of railway electrification, launching electric passenger trains from Badarpur to Sabroom, converting single-line railway tracks into double lines, introducing an Agartala-Guwahati intercity rail service, and the current status of 23 railway overbridges.

The delegation also discussed modernizing Agartala, Dharmanagar, and Udaipur railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, launching new express trains such as Agartala-Jammu, Agartala-Puri, and Agartala-Gaya Express, and developing an alternative railway line from Pecharthal to Dharmanagar via Kailashahar. Further discussions covered railway connectivity from Jirania Station to Bodhjungnagar and RK Nagar industrial hubs, extending the railway line from Sabroom Station to the Sabroom Integrated Check Post, introducing the Vande Bharat Express between Guwahati and Agartala, and the progress of a fuel storage depot in Sekerkote.
The Agartala-Akhaura rail link project was also reviewed. The Chief Minister emphasized maintaining cleanliness at railway stations and advised railway authorities to take necessary steps to transform Agartala Railway Station into a world-class facility. Chief Minister’s Secretary Dr. Pradip Kumar Chakraborty and Joint Secretary of the Transport Department Maitri Debnath were also present at the meeting.
