Prayagraj, February 25, 2025: The Allahabad High Court has dismissed a public interest litigation (PIL) filed in connection with the stampede that occurred on January 29 during the Mauni Amavasya bathing at the Prayagraj Mahakumbh. The hearing took place yesterday, following which the court rejected the petition. The state government informed the court that the scope of the judicial commission’s investigation has been expanded.
It will now also examine the loss of life and property in all three stampede incidents that took place during the event. The order was issued by a bench comprising Chief Justice Arun Bhansali and Justice Shailendra Kshitij in response to the PIL filed by former High Court Bar Association General Secretary Suresh Chandra Pandey.
