Agartala, February 23, 2025: Under the National Leprosy Eradication Programme, doctors and healthcare workers are conducting regular health screenings and visiting the homes of suspected leprosy patients for early detection. On February 18, 2025, a medical team led by Dhalai District Leprosy Officer Dr. Pritam Debbarma visited the homes of two suspected leprosy patients. One of the individuals resides in TRTC Para, while the other is from Ambedkar Nagar’s TRTC Para.
During the visit, both individuals were advised to undergo a Slit Skin Smear Test at Dhalai District Hospital free of charge under the National Leprosy Eradication Programme to confirm the diagnosis. Additionally, they were recommended to visit the Hepatitis Clinic at the district hospital every Wednesday under the National Viral Hepatitis Control Programme for free screening of any liver-related issues and necessary medication under the guidance of specialists.
Also present during the visit were District Nucleus Cell official Subranta Deb, MPW Sajal Baidya from Dolubari Ayushman Arogya Mandir, and local ASHA workers. This information was shared in a press release issued by the Department of Family Welfare and Disease Prevention.
