Agartala, 21 Feb, 2025: Like every year, Bhavan’s Tripura Vidyamandir celebrated International Mother Language Day with due dignity on Thursday. The event was graced by the presence of the chief guest, retired Professor Dr. Manju Das. Also present were the Chairman of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Agartala Centre, the esteemed Shri Debashish Chakraborty, and the school Principal, Smt. Swapna Som.
The Principal welcomed the guests with a traditional reception, offering a shawl, a sapling, and an idol of Goddess Saraswati. The event commenced with floral tributes to the martyr’s memorial by the chief guest, the respected Chairman, and the Principal. A moment of silence was observed in honor of the martyrs.
As part of the celebrations, a wall magazine titled Matrir Ahankar was unveiled. Following this, the Principal delivered a welcome speech, highlighting the significance of International Mother Language Day. A self-composed poetry writing competition was organized for students, where participants recited their original poems on stage.
Dr. Manju Das delivered an insightful and thought-provoking speech on the occasion, enriched with historical and linguistic facts. The school’s Chairman, Shri Debashish Chakraborty, also addressed the students, elaborating on the importance of the day.
The event continued with a captivating cultural program, featuring patriotic songs, poetry recitations, and a thought-provoking drama based on the significance of February 21. The atmosphere resonated with the spirit of remembrance and reverence.
Finally, the winners of the poetry writing competition were awarded prizes. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem.
