Tripura 4 Feb, 2025: Late last night, a joint operation by the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) led to the arrest of nine individuals at Agartala Railway Station’s Yard No. 13. The authorities seized 15,000 bottles of Eskuf syrup, packed in 50 bags, which were illegally transported by train from outside the state.
During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused had been involved in smuggling Eskuf and Phensedyl multiple times using a well-organized network operating both within Agartala Railway Station and outside Tripura. According to sources, GRP police have set up a comprehensive operation to dismantle the gang, and further arrests are expected soon.
The estimated market value of the seized drugs is approximately ₹25 lakh.
A case has been registered against the accused under the NDPS Act at Agartala GRP Police Station. A special team of nine officers is conducting a thorough investigation, and more individuals linked to the case are likely to be arrested. The accused will be produced before the court today.
