CBI arrests a Proclaimed Offender (PO) from Bhiwandi (Maharashtra) in a Tripura Chit Fund Scam case
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today i.e. 03.02.2025 arrested accused Bikash Das (R/o Das Colony, Panchgram, Hailakandi District, Assam) from Bhiwandi, Thane District, Maharashtra in a Tripura Chit Fund Scam case.
The accused was wanted in 02 FIRs of CBI, relating to alleged Chit Fund Scam cases, referred to CBI by Govt. of Tripura. The Ld. Spl. Judge, CBI, Agartala declared this accused as proclaimed offender, who had been absconding since 2013, and issued a standing warrant against him on 16.08.2024. CBI had also announced a cash award of Rs. 20,000/- for apprehending him. Efforts were made to locate the absconding accused from time to time and through technical intelligence/inputs accused Bikash Das was traced and arrested on 03.02.2025 from his present residence situated at Kalhar, PO-Bhiwandi, Thane, Maharashtra.
CBI had registered two cases on 15.03.2023 and 07.03.2023 against accused including Bikash Das, then Director of Suchana Real Projects Pvt. Ltd. on the request of Govt. of Tripura and further notification by the Govt. of India, transferring their investigation to CBI.
In one of the cases pertaining to FIR No. 57/2013 dated 28.06.2013 of Police Station Kamalpur and re-registered by CBI on 15.03.2023, it was alleged that company Suchana Real Estate Private Limited and its Directors including Shri Bikash Das and others collected money from hundreds of investors with promise of higher returns but closed its office in 2012 without paying maturity amounts to the complainant & other investors. It was further alleged that the company had defrauded around Rs. 6,60,000/- of the investors. After completion of investigation of case, CBI has filed charge sheet on 21.01.2025 against accused Sujit Das, Bikash Das & accused company Suchana Real Projects Pvt. Ltd. (through its Directors Shri Sujit Das & Bikash Das).
The investigation of another case taken by CBI has been continuing, which was earlier registered at PS-Teliamura, District- Khowai, Tripura vide their FIR No.51/2013 dated 16.05.2013 and re-registered by CBI on 07.03.2023.
The arrested accused will be produced before the competent Court.
