Tripura 24 Jan, 2025: A violent altercation between two groups over a land-related dispute occurred yesterday around 3 PM in Methirmia village under the West Kuchainala Panchayat of Surma constituency, within the jurisdiction of Kamalpur Police Station. Reports indicate that Anil Das, Kushai Das, and Samir Das allegedly attacked Bikash Das, his wife Mamata Das, and their minor son.
The attack reportedly took place even after Bikash and his family sought shelter in a local Panchayat member’s house. Despite this, all three sustained injuries during the incident. The injured individuals were promptly taken to Kamalpur BSM Hospital by the fire department. Mamata’s condition was deemed critical, and she was referred to Kulai District Hospital for further treatment.
The incident is believed to be connected to the alleged destruction of a tomato and bitter gourd field belonging to Samir Das. He filed a police complaint regarding the matter yesterday, suspecting Bikash Das. Following this, Bikash was summoned to the police station earlier today, and the attack reportedly occurred after his return.
