₹8.3 Lakh Cash Seized from Suspected Drug Peddlers
Agartala 11 Jan, 2025: Yesterday, Agartala GRP police station arrested two individuals (one male and one female) from Agartala Railway Station for their alleged involvement in an NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) case. The accused were reportedly engaged in smuggling narcotics via long-distance trains.
A total of ₹8.3 lakh in cash, suspected to be proceeds from drug transactions, was seized from them. The accused will be presented before the honorable court today, and authorities anticipate more arrests in connection with this case.

1. Mohammad Mehedi Hasan Nazmul (20)
• Father: Mohammad Abdul Rashid
• Residence: Kulubari, Daurdarani, Sonamura Police Station, Sepahijala, Tripura
• Seized Amount: ₹6.3 lakh
2. Mrs. Shahena Akhtar (30)
• Father: Shafik Mia
• Residence: Charilam, Aralia, Bishalgarh Police Station, Sepahijala, Tripura
• Seized Amount: ₹2 lakh
The joint operation was conducted by Agartala GRP and RPF. Officer-in-Charge of Agartala GRP, Tapan Das, provided this information and stated that the investigation is ongoing, with more arrests expected in connection with the case.
