Tripura 9 Jan, 2025: The Agartala Government Medical College and GBP Hospital continue to provide regular eye care services, including cataract surgeries, especially for elderly and senior citizens. On January 1, a cataract surgery camp was organized under the supervision of ophthalmologists from the hospital’s Ophthalmology Department.
A total of 13 cataract surgeries were performed during the camp, which included 7 men and 6 women. The surgeries were conducted by expert ophthalmologists, Dr. Abhijit Roy and Dr. Rakhindra Das, from the GBP Hospital’s Ophthalmology Department. Supporting the procedure were OT technician Leela Barman, Nursing Officer in charge Gayatri Som Das, and Maitri Debbarma.
Post-surgery, patients with BPL and Ayushman Bharat cards received free glasses and medicines. This initiative was highlighted in a press release issued by the Department of Health and Family Welfare.
