Agartala, January 1, 2025: The development of the tourism sector remains a top priority for the state government, aimed at creating new employment opportunities. Speaking at the launch of 10 paddle boats and 2 state-of-the-art air-conditioned Urbania buses for tourist recreation at the Ujjayanta Palace Lake, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing tourism infrastructure.
The minister highlighted that the state government and the Tripura Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) are working with a clear strategy to boost the tourism industry, which is expected to have far-reaching impacts on the state’s economy. During the event, he officially flagged off the paddle boats and Urbania bus services.
Extending New Year greetings to the people of the state, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury remarked that the day marks a significant milestone in Tripura’s tourism journey. He added that the TTDC will continue to bring innovative ideas and plans for the development of the tourism sector.
The Urbania bus service has been introduced to facilitate tourists from within and outside the state in exploring Tripura’s attractive tourist destinations. These modern buses are expected to make travel experiences more comfortable and appealing. The two buses, procured at a cost of ₹57.86 lakh through the Government of India’s GeM portal, were manufactured by Force Motors and can accommodate 17 passengers each.
Additionally, the tourism minister informed that 50 advanced boats have been purchased to enable boating activities at various tourist destination water bodies across the state.
The program began with a welcome address by Tourism Department Director Prashanta Badal Negi. Joint Director Aniruddha Roy and other dignitaries were also present at the event.
