Agartala, Dec 25: Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha today emphasized the importance of transparency in delivering welfare programs to every citizen during the Good Governance Day celebration at Pragya Bhavan. “Our priority is to ensure that every single person benefits from both central and state initiatives,” he stated, highlighting the government’s commitment to good governance.
The event, commemorating the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, paid tribute to his vision of a corruption-free India. “Vajpayeeji dreamt of a nation governed with integrity,” the Chief Minister remarked. “His legacy as a leader, poet, and patriot continues to inspire us all.”
Organized by the Tripura Institution for Transformation (TIFT), the event focused on the theme, “Good Governance and Digital Empowerment: The Path to a Developed India.” The program began with a poignant moment as dignitaries, including the Chief Minister, paid floral tributes to Vajpayee’s portrait.
Several important initiatives were unveiled during the celebration:
- TIFT’s Newsletter: Sharing insights and updates on the institution’s work.
- Joint Study Report: A collaborative effort with National Law University, shedding light on a critical issue.
- PMAY-Gramin Assessment: An internal evaluation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin program in Tripura.
- District Good Governance Index: A framework to measure and improve governance at the district level.
- WARCAT Report: Highlighting advancements in Welfare and Citizen-centric Transparency.
Furthermore, the Mukhyamantri Samipeshu 2.0 initiative was officially launched, aiming to strengthen the bond between citizens and the government.
The Chief Minister highlighted the state government’s dedication to efficient and transparent service delivery. He acknowledged the remarkable progress made under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, particularly in the Northeast region, which is now gaining national recognition. “Tripura’s governance model has accelerated development, earning praise across the country,” he added.
Expressing his appreciation for TIFT’s contributions, the Chief Minister acknowledged the institution’s valuable work, including collaborations with NITI Aayog, workshops, evaluations of key projects like PMAY-G, and support for initiatives like Ayushman Bharat School Health Mission.
Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha commended the Good Governance Department for its achievements, citing the successful hosting of the recent North Eastern Council Plenary Session and the commendable response to recent floods as examples of effective governance. He reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that welfare schemes reach every citizen with transparency and efficiency.
Other speakers, including State Good Governance Secretary Kiran Gitte and Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan, emphasized the crucial role of governance reforms. Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Chaitanya Murti also graced the occasion.
