Long-Time Fugitive Arrested by Kalyanpur Police
Tripura 24 December, 2024: Kalyanpur police successfully apprehended a long-time fugitive wanted in a murder case on Monday night. Acting on a permanent arrest warrant issued by the court, the police tracked down the accused in the Dhalai area of Agartala.
Inspector Tapas Malakar, Officer-in-Charge of Kalyanpur Police Station, revealed details about the case. In 2007, a gruesome murder occurred in the Ramchandraghat area, leading to multiple individuals being named as accused in the case. One of the prime accused, Rajkumar Debnath, a resident of Shantinagar village and son of Radhacharan Debnath, had been on the run since the incident.
Based on a confidential tip-off, a police team led by Officer Ranjit Sarkar launched a successful operation to apprehend Rajkumar Debnath from the Dhaleshwar area of Agartala late Monday night.
Following his arrest, the accused was produced before the Khowai Court after completing all necessary legal formalities.
The police’s determination and effort to bring a fugitive to justice after 18 years have been widely praised by the public.
