Proposed Tea E-Auction Center Discussed in Stakeholders’ Meeting: Minister Highlights Government’s Priority on Tea Industry Development
Agartala, Dec 13: The state government has prioritized the growth and development of the tea industry to boost Tripura’s economic progress, according to Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma. Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting on the proposed Tea E-Auction Center held at Hotel Polo Towers today, the minister said the tea industry in the state, once in a declining state, has been rejuvenated through various government initiatives.
The meeting, organized by Tripura Tea Development Corporation Limited, witnessed the participation of representatives from tea gardens across the state and outside, along with tea auctioneers and bidders. The minister, welcoming the participants, emphasized the significant role of the tea industry in the state’s economic growth. She highlighted that the establishment of the Agartala Tea E-Auction Center would be a pivotal step in modernizing and expanding the sector.
Director of Industries and Commerce, Bishwshree B., noted that there are 54 tea gardens in Tripura, both large and small. She assured stakeholders that the government would support any innovative measures aimed at the development of the tea industry in the future.
Samir Ranjan Ghosh, Chairman of Tripura Tea Development Corporation Limited, delivered the welcome address, while Managing Director Manik Lal Das was also present at the event.
The initiative to set up the Tea E-Auction Center aims to provide better market access and improved profitability for tea growers in Tripura, ensuring the long-term sustainability of the sector.
