Third Event of Tripura Tourism Promo Fest Held at Vanghmun, Jampui Hill
State’s Natural Beauty and Cultural Diversity are Key to Tourism Development: Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury
Kanchanpur, December 11, 2024: The natural beauty and cultural diversity of Tripura are the most promising aspects for the development of the state’s tourism industry, said Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury while inaugurating the third event of the Tripura Tourism Promo Fest 2024. This unique promotional initiative by the tourism department aims to showcase Tripura’s tourism potential to the world. The first two events of the fest were held at Narikelkunja and Neermahal.
Addressing the gathering at Vanghmun in Jampui Hill, Kanchanpur Subdivision of North Tripura district, the minister highlighted ongoing initiatives for infrastructural development at various tourist spots across the state. He noted that such efforts have significantly increased the inflow of tourists from around the globe. He further stated that the tourism industry has vast potential to generate employment opportunities in the state. To promote sustainable tourism, the government is also encouraging the development of homestay facilities at key tourist destinations.
The minister emphasized that Jampui Hill, Tripura’s only hill station, holds immense potential for tourism. Utilizing its natural beauty, focused efforts will be made to develop Jampui Hill as a prominent tourist destination.
Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, who also attended the event, expressed her gratitude to the tourism department for organizing such a festival in Jampui Hill. She urged for further initiatives to leverage the area’s natural beauty to boost tourism.
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including U.K. Chakma, Secretary of the Tourism Department, who delivered the welcome speech. The program was presided over by Chungnungnga, Chairman of the Jampui Hill BAC. Other notable attendees included Aparna Nath, Chairperson of North Tripura Zilla Parishad; MLAs Philip Kumar Riang and Pramod Reang; ADC Executive Member Bhubaranjan Reang; MDCs Bhumiknanda Riang and Shailendra Nath; Chairman of Laljuri BAC Ajanta Kumar Chowdhury; Tourism Director Prashant Badal Negi; Additional District Magistrate of North Tripura L. Darlong; and Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Kanchanpur Dr. Dipak Kumar.
The event featured cultural performances by renowned artists from across the state, including traditional Cheraw dance, Hojagiri dance, and music by local talents.
