Khowai 13 November, 2024: A woman from North Singichara village in the Khowai subdivision has come forward with allegations against two local men, claiming harassment and intimidation. The woman filed a complaint at the Khowai Women’s Police Station, bringing the issue to light and leading to widespread attention and concern across the area, especially after reports that the accused individuals were allegedly released following pressure on local authorities.
According to the woman’s statement, the two men, identified as Subrata Das, 45, and Ajay Das, 40, had been intimidating her for months. She alleged that they frequently used threats directed toward her family, which left her feeling vulnerable and unable to speak out earlier.
The incident came to public attention when the woman’s husband, who works as a daily wage laborer, reportedly witnessed one of the encounters after returning home earlier than usual. Following this, the couple approached a local writer for help in drafting a formal complaint, though they reported facing challenges in accurately conveying the seriousness of their concerns in the documentation.
The complaint was eventually filed at the Khowai Women’s Police Station and registered as Case No. 2024 Wkh 030dt 13/11/2024, under several sections of the BNS Act of 2023. However, the family claims that despite the filing, local authorities faced external pressure, and the suspects were ultimately released.
The woman’s husband has since expressed disappointment over the handling of their case and plans to appeal directly to the District Superintendent of Police, seeking further investigation. The case has sparked discussions on how such cases are managed and has prompted calls from the community for a transparent resolution.
