Dhalai 24 Oct, 2024: Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring the health and well-being of the future generation during the inauguration of the state-level Mukhyamantri Sushtha Shaishav, Sushtha Kaishore Abhiyan 7.0 at Ambassa Town Hall, Dhalai district, today. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister stated that today’s students are the future of tomorrow, and ensuring their health is paramount for their overall development. He added that if children and adolescents remain healthy, their education will also progress smoothly.
This ambitious campaign, aimed at promoting the healthy development of children and adolescents aged 0-19 years, targets 11.36 lakh beneficiaries across the state. Last year, under the 6.0 edition of the program, 97.97% of the eligible children and adolescents were covered. The campaign focuses on providing 12 essential health services, including deworming tablets, iron and folic acid supplements, Vitamin A tablets, and tetanus and diphtheria vaccinations, among others. Health workers will implement this initiative by reaching out to schools, colleges, tea gardens, orphanages, and even conducting door-to-door visits to ensure maximum coverage.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the state’s healthcare improvements, stating that residents no longer need to seek treatment outside the state. With significant advancements in the state’s healthcare infrastructure, Tripura now offers all essential health services. He urged people to trust the state’s healthcare system, announcing that the Union Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) has allocated ₹515 crores for enhancing healthcare infrastructure and services in Tripura.
Further, Dr. Saha discussed the government’s efforts to extend health insurance to all citizens through Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and the state-run Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana. He also pointed out that Dhalai district, being an Aspirational District, receives 10-15% additional funds annually to promote its holistic development.
The event saw the participation of several dignitaries, including Dhalai Zilla Parishad Chairperson Sushmita Das, MLA Chittaranjan Debbarma, Ambassa BAC Chairman Parimal Debbarma, Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, Dhalai District Magistrate Saju Wahid A, Director of Health Dr. Sanjeeb Kumar Debbarma, and Dhalai SP Avinash Rai. Social Welfare and Social Education Director Tapan Kumar Das and National Health Mission Director Dr. Samit Roy Chowdhury were also present. The event was chaired by Ambassa Municipal Council Chairperson Gopal Sutradhar, and Dr. Apollo Koloi, the Chief Health Officer, delivered the welcome address.
