Gomati District, Tripura, October 3, 2024: In a remarkable act of public healthcare service, the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) successfully facilitated the free heart surgery of a young girl from the Udaipur area of Gomati district, ensuring her recovery from a critical congenital heart condition. Born to Sudhankar Sharma and Sarika Sharma on June 27, 2019, the child had been suffering from heart-related complications since birth, placing a heavy burden on her family.
After continuous medical observations at Gomati District Hospital, a team from the RBSK, led by Dr. Shilpi Sharma and Dr. Paritosh Debbarma, identified the heart condition and recommended urgent corrective surgery. The family’s financial situation made this surgery seem impossible, but through the coordinated efforts of the RBSK and local medical teams, the child’s parents were assured that the treatment would be provided free of cost.
On March 21, 2024, the child was referred to AIIMS Hospital in New Delhi, where specialists confirmed the severity of her heart condition and arranged for the surgery. After extensive treatment and a successful heart surgery on July 9, 2024, the child was kept under observation for further recovery.
Following this critical surgery, the child was discharged on July 24, 2024, and returned home to Gomati District. Her health has since improved significantly, bringing immense relief and joy to her family. The local medical team and RBSK officials were applauded for their dedication to the child’s recovery.
The child’s family expressed deep gratitude toward the doctors, especially Dr. Shilpi Sharma and Dr. Paritosh Debbarma, for their consistent efforts in ensuring her recovery. In a press release, the Department of Family Welfare and Preventive Medicine highlighted the significance of this achievement under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram and praised the combined efforts of medical professionals in Tripura and AIIMS Hospital in New Delhi.
This successful intervention not only saved the young girl’s life but also demonstrated the impact of government health initiatives like the RBSK in providing crucial medical care to underprivileged families.
