Agartala, 3rd October: In a significant step towards providing new market opportunities for the state’s artisans, the foundation stone for Ekta Mall under the Prime Minister’s Ekta Mall project was laid today at the Old Jute Mill ground in Hapania. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, while addressing the event as the chief guest, stated that the Ekta Mall will not only showcase products from Tripura but also feature the best products from various other states of the country. This will create opportunities for the state’s products to gain recognition across India, helping to expand their market and improve the socio-economic conditions of the local artisans.
The Chief Minister further emphasized that the establishment of Ekta Mall would promote both social and cultural development, alongside economic growth. The mall will be equipped with modern amenities that will contribute to the overall development of the area. He also directed the construction company to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe.
Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma highlighted the importance of the Ekta Mall, noting that it aligns with the state’s “One District, One Product” policy, aimed at fostering industrial growth. She reiterated the government’s commitment to setting up industries focused on rubber and bamboo, while also working towards building an “Atmanirbhar Tripura” under the guidance of the Prime Minister.
Agartala Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav provided additional details about the project, mentioning that the mall will cover 4.18 acres and will cost around ₹150 crore. It will include separate stalls for each district of Tripura as well as for other states, with facilities like an auditorium, food park, water body, and garden.
The event was also attended by Urban Development Department Secretary Abhishek Singh, MLA Meena Rani Sarkar, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Deepak Majumdar, and Secretary of the Industries and Commerce Department Kiran Gitte. During the event, the construction company Ravi Raj Realty & Oval Project also donated ₹10 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
