Sonamura, June 23, 2024 – A significant paddy procurement drive concluded on June 22 in Sonamura subdivision, benefiting 439 local farmers through a government program aimed at purchasing paddy at a minimum support price (MSP).
Between June 15 and June 22, a total of 928.400 metric tons of paddy was purchased at Tk 21.83 per kilogram. This initiative took place at Jagannathbari Nat Mandir and Kanthalia Bazar Community Hall in Melaghar, serving as collection points for the paddy procured under this scheme.
To further support farmers, additional procurement will occur from June 29 to July 5 at New Dhanpur Motor Stand and from June 30 to July 5 at Buxnagar Community Hall. The program has also extended its reach to the Nalchar Block, where paddy procurement commenced on June 22 at Bairagibazar Nat Mandir and will continue until June 26.
This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to supporting local farmers by providing a fair price for their produce, ensuring financial stability, and encouraging agricultural productivity in the region.
