Tripura 26 May, 2024: A farmer named Santhithang Halam was shot while collecting betel nuts in the deep forest in Dhanchhara area under Ambasa police station on Sunday. Three bullet wounds were found on his body and he is currently undergoing treatment at GB Hospital. The doctors said that his physical condition is currently stable.
According to the account of the incident, on Sunday morning, Santhithang Halam went to the forest of Dhanchhara area to collect betel nut. While he was busy drinking, someone fired at him from a distance. Being shot, he himself came from the forest to the locality and sought help from the local residents. He was later taken to Dhalai District Hospital and after first aid was shifted to GB Hospital for advanced treatment.
Family members of the injured farmer Santhithang Halam said he went to collect betel on Sunday morning like every day. However, they have no idea who or who shot him. The whole incident seems to be mysterious and police have started investigation into the matter.
The local administration said that police are investigating the incident and efforts are on to identify the culprits and arrest them. Residents are asked to cooperate and encouraged to provide any information.
