New Delhi 22 Jan, 2024: National School Band Competition Triumph at Maj. Dhyanchand National Stadium, New Delhi, Marks Republic Day Celebrations.
In a grand celebration of Republic Day, the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Education jointly organized the National School Band Competition at the iconic Maj. Dhyanchand National Stadium in New Delhi. Secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy, Mr. Sanjay Kumar, honored the victorious teams with trophies, certificates, and cash awards.
A specially appointed jury from the Ministry of Defence, along with members from each branch of the armed forces, concluded the two-day competition on January 21-22, 2024, crowning the winners of the Grand Finale. Besides participating teams, the Government Senior Secondary School, Kavaratti, showcased a remarkable performance, adding a special touch to the event.
The competition unfolded on three levels—State, Regional, and All States/Union Territories (UTs) for all types of schools (CBSE, ICSE, KVS, NVS, and Military Schools, etc.). At the State level, 12,857 students formed 486 teams, with 73 teams participating at the Regional level. The Grand Finale featured 457 students from 15 States/UTs.
The victorious schools were St. Teresa’s Higher Secondary School, Kerala; City Montessori School, Kanpur Road Campus, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh; St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghata, Sipahijala, Tripura; and Carmel Convent Senior Secondary School, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
